a proven, conservative public servant for wayne county.

Kevin Johnson, Wayne County, Commissioner At-Large

SHowing up and doing the work matters, and i hope to continue to show up as your county commissioner at-large

I began my career as an Agriculture Extension Agent, providing services to farmers to help them grow their farms and succeed. I later became the director of the Wayne County Cooperative Extension, leading programming that provided research based information and resources in horticulture, livestock, agricultural development, local food and nutrition, and youth development.

In this role, I led the creation and establishment of the Wayne County Farm Credit Farmers’ Market and The Maxwell Center, creating a hub for the Extension, USDA, and Soil and Water services, making a one stop shop for farmers across our county and region. This project has also created an economic boom for our county, with the Extension program creating $2 billion annual economic impact to North Carolina.

I have also served on numerous boards benefiting our county.

  • Chairman of the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce

  • Wayne County Farm Bureau

  • Wayne County Partnership for Children

  • Sunrise Kiwanis

  • Rotary Club

  • Wayne County Livestock and Development Association

  • Proud Deacon of the Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church

  • I am also proud to be inducted alongside my wife in the Wayne County Agricultural Hall of Fame

As a public servant, I understand what it takes to build strong coalitions, listen to community members, and get stuff done for the betterment of Wayne County.
